Conservative Hypocrisy on Target Pork
I watched Dennis Prager (whom I didn't like; and, since his criticism of of the Muslim congressman swearing in on the Koran, I cannot stand) this morning on Fox n Friends. He is upset at Target because they made accommodations for Muslim employees who did not want to handle pork products at the register. I think Target did the sensible thing. Who applies for a job at Target and expect to handle pork??? And if the employee can be just as useful in sporting goods as they can be at the register, then so be it.
But I find conservative outrage against Target "appeasing" Muslims (i.e. if Muslims don't want to handle pork, then don't work at Target) to be very hypocritical.
I did not hear this same outrage against pharmacists who refused to dispense LEGAL drugs that they found morally incompatible with their Catholic beliefs (e.g. pharmacists who refused to dispense the morning after pill since it is an abortifacient and, therefore, against their Catholic beliefs). I think that Target is a private company and can conduct business anyway they want. If they wanted to fire the Muslims, fine. If they chose to accommodate, fine.
