Hitchen’s on Iraq:  Support the War whether It’s Going Bad or Not

Excellent analysis and discussion with NRO contributor, Peter Robinson of the Hoover Institution.

I will go and spit on every person who sees this movie…

This is the most despicable thing yet the Democrats' leftist supporters have pulled.

A film about the brutal rape and murder of a 14 year old girl and her family by five pieces of human debris that is intended to show Americans the "reality" of Iraq.
Inspired by one of the most serious crimes committed by American soldiers in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, it is a harrowing indictment of the conflict and spares the audience no brutality to get its message across.

De Palma, 66, whose "Casualties of War" in 1989 told a similar tale of abuse by American soldiers in Vietnam, makes no secret of the goal he is hoping to achieve with the film's images, all based on real material he found on the Internet.

"The movie is an attempt to bring the reality of what is happening in Iraq to the American people," he told reporters after a press screening.

"The pictures are what will stop the war. One only hopes that these images will get the public incensed enough to motivate their Congressmen to vote against this war," he said.
What f*ck!ng bu!!$hit.

When Democrats talk about our "reputation around the world," it is precisely because THEY and their evil cohorts peddle this asininity abroad that makes people have a skewed view of Americans.

The left hates our military and they want to brandish them all with this sick sh!t.

Just as the Democrats told the world that all of our soldiers were a bunch of sexually sadistic torturers after Abu Ghraib.

I really hate people like this director. I literally hate them.

They DON'T SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

Fiscally Responsible Wars

The Democrats and TJ whine about the cost of toppling two terrorist dictatorships - on either side of the terror master state Iran.

Let's analyze the true cost of the Iraq war and see if that cost is as big and devastating and worthless as the leftists claim.
Funding to Date
Since September 2001, the Congress has appropriated $602 billion for military operations and other activities related to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the war on terrorism. In addition, although not explicitly appropriated for that purpose, an estimated $2 billion has been spent by the VA for war-related benefits. Specific appropriations, which averaged about $93 billion a year from 2003 through 2005, have risen to $120 billion in 2006 and $170 billion in 2007.
This is a report given on July 31, 2007. As of this moment, the Iraq war cost $448B.

So $602B is our liability. Let's look at our government's income over the same period.

The CBO reports from 2003 to 2006...
Total federal revenues grew by about $625 billion, or 35 percent, between fiscal year 2003 and fiscal year 2006. CBO's analysis of that increase in revenues since 2003 is necessarily preliminary because relevant data are not yet fully available. CBO examined the available data using the commonly employed method of analyzing the sources of revenue growth as a percentage of GDP. Had revenues grown at the same rate as the overall economy between 2003 and 2006, federal receipts would have increased by only $373 billion. The other $252 billion of the actual increase in revenues represents growth in excess of GDP growth. As a result, receipts as a share of GDP rose from 16.5 percent in 2003 to 18.4 percent in 2006, an increase of 1.9 percentage points (see Table 1).
We know that FY2007 will see tax receipts reach $3T, but for the sake of argument let's lower the figure to an average of 2T each year since 2001. This is really lowballing it.

6 years x $2T equals $12T.

$602B divided by $12T comes to 5%.

Therefore, all military operations since 9/11 represent 5% of the total tax income the government received in the same period. It is most likely smaller if I actually could find year to year numbers showing the receipts skyrocketing by almost 40% after President Bush's "Tax Cuts for the Rich."

How does this compare to the Democrat's "New Deal" and "Great (socialist) Society" programs in the same period?

Well, Medicare and Social Security cost $1T annually. So let's do the math.

6 years x $1T = $6T

$6T divided by $12T = 50%

Therefore, socialist spending programs designed by the Democrats cost the US Treasury roughly 10 times the amount of the cost of two wars on the other side of the world.

Lest we not forget also that each year Social Security goes unfixed, we gain an additional $500B debt added in the future. The Democrats blocked Social Security reform for two years and will do nothing about it this year.

So the cost of a typical Democrat temper tantrum is $1.5T in future debt.

That's around 250% of the wars' cost.

So, whenever a Democrat (or TJ) try to talk about fiscal responsibility and the "cost of the war" or "wars" you can safely spit out what you're drinking at the moment and laugh hysterically.

How many bridges could $1.5T build over the next 25 years? I don't know, ask Paul.

Breaking:  Media and Democrats Fail to Destroy Economy with Scare Tactics

Americans keep working hard taking care of bid'ness. The economy grew at 4% last quarter. This is outstanding news and continued growth will grow us out of the credit crunch.

Link provided when I can find one! It's bannered as "breaking" at MSNBC.com.

Here's a link.

Get the Political Facts

You should get your facts here, but this site is biased towards conservative principles and Republican.

So, I'd like to remind our leftist readers that there are two very qualified, non-partisan, fact checker that sorts the wheat from the chaff on claims by politicians.
FactCheck.org is one I relied on in 2004 with the outrageous lies being leveled at President Bush by John Kerry (and some whoppers told about Kerry).

There's a new site for the 2008 electoral season that is co-sponsored by the Congressional Quarterly and the St. Petersburg Times called Politifact.com.

Check each of these sites at least once a week. It calms the nerves when a non-partisan organization actually agrees with you; and is also a lesson in humility when they do not.

Received a notice from military.com that they had video of a terrorist accidentally blowing himself up.

Who could pass up an opportunity to see that!

So here it is for your viewing pleasure.

100 Taliban Terrorists Killed by Coalition Yesterday

Did you know that? I only found that nugget buried in the Washington Times.
On Afghanistan's battlefields yesterday, U.S.-led and Afghan troops fought suspected Taliban insurgents in the south in ground clashes and air strikes that left over 100 militants dead, according to the Associated Press which quoted coalition sources.

And yet, I had to learn all about this Winehouse chic yesterday and her apparent drug problem.

Blood Money Funds Clinton and Obama Campaigns???

No, just dirty, stinky illegal money most likely tied to the ongoing Chinese-Clinton connection whereby the Chinese attempt to influence American elections (as well as leftist Europe) by buying off their Marxist brethren: the Democrats. Here's Hillary paying homage to Chairman Mao running for the Senate.

The Los Angeles Times reports on this website tonight and in Wednesday's print editions that a major Democratic Party fundraiser named Norman Hsu is wanted by authorities for skipping out on an agreement to serve up to three years in prison after pleading no contest to grand theft swindling charges.

In a story by Chuck Neubauer and Robin Fields, The Times reports that for three years Hsu has been carving out a place of political and financial influence by funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions into Democratic Party coffers, much of the money earmarked for Sen. Hillary Clinton. He has earned the ranking of Hillraiser for pledging to raise at least $100,000 for her.

In just the last 36 months Hsu has been involved in raising more than $1 million for Clinton and other Democrats. Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, confirmed today that Hsu had been a "longtime and generous supporter" of the party including Clinton. "We have no reason to call his contributions into question or to return them," Wolfson added. [of course not!]

Hsu has developed a specialty of bundling hefty campaign contributions from obscure citizens who live modest lives and have never before given money to campaigns. Many are not even registered to vote.

Over the years other recipients of Hsu donations have included Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Edward Kennedy.
I am shocked!

Now, will this make the network news? CNN? MSNBC? New York Times? Washington Post? We shall see...

Oh, and I totally forgot that communist dictator and mass murderer, Fidel Castro, has endorsed a "Clinton-Obama" ticket!

Armed to the TEETH!  I LOVE AMERICA!

The US is the MOST armed country in the world. Wonderful!

That's how we will stay the most free country in the world.

I found this picture of Jeff Gannon showing off his love of the Second Amendment!

Senator Craig Must Resign

I will not apologize for my original reaction - which was to criticize the hysterical reaction by the left to flimsy reports about foot tapping and an arrest. I was not defending lewd behavior.

Now that more of the story has surfaced, including the full report by the police officer, there is little doubt that Senator Craig sought public sexual activity in a men's restroom.
According to police reports, Craig kept watching the undercover police officer through a crack in the bathroom stall, Roll Call reported. Craig then entered the next-door stall and placed his luggage against the opening under the stall door.

"My experience has shown that individuals engaging in lewd conduct use their bags to block the view from the front of their stall," said the officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia.

The report continued: "At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. ... The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area."

The report said that Craig swiped his hand beneath the stall divider several times and that Karsnia showed his police identification under the stall.

Roll Call reported that Craig was detained about 45 minutes and questioned by officers at the Airport Police Operations Center. At one point, police reports said, Craig handed the arresting officer a business card that identified him as a U.S. senator and said, "What do you think about that?"
This behavior is reckless, dangerous and criminal; Senator Craig should resign immediately. His excuses of "wide stance" and "picking up a piece of paper" on top of the fact that this bathroom is known for this activity shows he has done this before and knows what to say to get out of it.

The Republicans should publicly demand his resignation and the people of Idaho should recall him if he refuses to resign.

The Senate should also consider censure.

This was an unforced error by a Republican; it is disgusting behavior and violates the ethical standards of Republicans and he must go.

Republican Senator Taps Foot in Restroom, Arrested

The left then goes hysterical.

And yet, Governor McGreevy is lauded as a hero for actually HAVING SEX WITH STRANGERS AND TRUCKERS AT REST STOPS ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE.

The left wants Senator Craig to go down for tapping his foot in the stall...and then go on to accuse Republicans as hypocrites because if some republicans are gay then the only credible position is to support gay marriage.

I'm gay and I don't support gay marriage.

And if Senator Craig was cruising for sex in a MN airport bathroom, we will never know because none of the evidence presented shows it.

Goodbye, Gonzo!

Alberto Gonzales committed no crime and the Democrats used his testimony for political show trials.

So today, he stepped down and I am glad to see him go.

He did a far superior job than Janet Reno. In fact, if only compared to Janet Reno, I would give Gonzales a B+, but he was also weak and legacy of Bush's "new tone."

You cannot have an AG go before a Stalinist Congress with show trials and act wounded. And you MUST prepare! AG Gonzales' testimonies were unbearable to watch.

We need an AG who will push back. I think a recess appointment of Chertoff would be nice but what would REALLY piss off the Democrats (i.e. a person with superb credentials and knowledge of constitutional law and history) would be to put John Yoo in there.

Oh that would be fantastic!

Clinton Official Attempting to Trigger Recession with Scary Rhetoric

I am so tired of all this mortgage and lending "crisis" bandied about by the drive-by media. But now we have a Clintonoid trying to spread the panic to help Hillary win the White House:
Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers warned that the United States may be heading into recession as the biggest victim to date of the sub-prime mortgage debacle was humiliatingly sold for a token sum in Germany.

Traders are braced for another week of turmoil after the near breakdown of America's $2,200bn (£1,100bn) market for commercial paper.

"It would be far too premature to judge this crisis over," Mr Summers said. "I would say the risks of recession are now greater than they've been any time since the period in the aftermath of 9/11."
Except we did not have a recession in the aftermath of 9/11. The recession began in 2000 and ended the summer before 9/11.

That is to say, the recession that happened on Secretary Larry Summers watch as Treasury Secretary.

So, when you need an expert on failure and misery, look no further than a previous Democrat officeholder...

[would you trust this face with your money?]
