She Was Not on Vacation

I cannot remember the email I sent this morning to the crew here at LLP, but I sure hope I didn't welcome Kitty back from a vacation (total foot in mouth). If I did, Kitty, I apologize.

I am sad to read from Kitty and Pat that Kitty's mother's long struggle with a benign tumor in her lung.

Kitty faithfully cared for her mother and I want Kitty to know that she and her family are in our prayers.

I Is Back from Texas

Hey, everyone. I am back from my trip to Houston, TX. I caught a cold the Monday before I left, so I wasn't back to work until today.

Houston is a great city, but I like Phoenix much better. I didn't get to travel out of the city towards Galveston--which could be very nice.

The site is getting soupped up for the fall elections and I hope you all will visit more frequently. I should be back to more normal posting ASAP.

I'd also like to put out an APB for my other contributors...accept the Dodo who's been posting quite regularly.

I'm in Houston!

I am on travel here in Houston, TX, (Bush and DeLay Country)!

Since arriving, I've noticed some wonderful things about Texas. First thing I noticed was $2.25 regular unleaded.

And Bush is everywhere and loved here. You cannot imagine the night and day change from the bluest state of Maryland to the reddest state of Texas.

Anyway, there is no FNC in this hotel room (which I am going to complain about); I almost threw my TV out the window after about 30 minutes of Chrissy Matthews.

Also, I am glad Lincoln Chaffey one the primary. He is a Republican, he was our incumbent and he should have been supported by the party. He s a liberal, but we are a big tent party and I am glad we did not pull a Lamont on him.

That is all. I will report back later when I have time.

To be sure, I could get some celeron processor disaster, but the new Core 2 Duo from intel smokes every chip on the market.

PCs with new 'Conroe' chips decisively outscore AMD-based rivals in our tests.

PC World tests show that PCs equipped with Intel's new Core 2 Duo processors, formerly code-named Conroe, set new high marks for desktop performance--they're the fastest we've seen by far.

With this chip line, which formally launched on July 27, Intel decisively reclaims the power desktop crown from competitor AMD.

Horror strikes Kent Village

I live in Landover, MD, in a community called Kent Village; it is a quintessential "transition" neighborhood with part slums with huge new community developments. Many people like living here because it is within walking distance of the Orange Line (main DC subway) and the rent is still reasonable. My two bedroom townhouse with fenced in yard is about 1000 a month rent (which is exceptionally cheap in the DC area).

But this weekend, we were reminded that there is still an unsafe element in the area:

Woman Set Afire in Landover

A Prince George's County landscaper doused his girlfriend with gasoline and set her on fire yesterday, police said, in an attack that eerily resembled a crime that horrified the region last fall.

While she was still ablaze, the woman, 39, ran several blocks to her home in Landover, burst through the door and told family members to call 911.

She suffered second- and third-degree burns to her upper body and was in critical but stable condition at a hospital. Police said they expect that she will survive. Anthony Willoughby, 40, was in police custody shortly after the incident, police said. He was charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault and malicious burning and was being held without bond.

Police would not release the woman's name last night because they were still notifying other family members. Relatives and a neighbor interviewed provided conflicting information on her identity.

The woman had a restraining order against Willoughby, according to police, but a family member said the couple had made up. Late Friday night after work, she went to visit him at his home in the 2100 block of Ohio Avenue, police said. They got into an argument that was loud enough for neighbors to hear, police said. It is unclear what they argued about.

Judging from the address and map WaPo provided yesterday, she had to have run past our courtyard. The worst part about this incident is that it's the second time in a year this has happened. Here's a CNN transcript about the attack on Yvette Cade last year:

LIN (voice-over): It was exactly what Yvette Cade feared. Her family says her husband, Roger Hardgrave, had physically abused her and continued to harass her.

She got this court order barring him from contacting her. He took her to court to challenge it. And Cade's family says the actions of the judge who heard the case were unconscionable.

In this audio from the proceeding, Cade speaks to Judge Richard Palumbo.

YVETTE CADE, WIFE: He's still contacting me. Um. He's intimidating my daughter. And um, he's vandalizing other people's properties. I want an immediate and absolute divorce.

JUDGE PALUMBO: Well, I'd like to be six-foot-five, but that's not what we do here. You have to go to divorce court for that.

LIN: Palumbo said he would reject Hardgrave's request to lift the restraining order. But he granted it. Nearly a month later, Hardgrave found his ex-wife working at a T-Mobile store. He doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. Now he's charged with attempted murder.

LLP Correction on Rep. John Murtha

I would like to offer an apology to Rep. John Murtha for this post.

The Corner points out that the Sun-Sentinal said that Murtha was misquoted and that he was referring to a well known poll regarding world opinion.

The Sun-Sentinel, the South Florida newspaper that first reported Jack Murtha had said America was now a greater danger to the world than Iran or North Korea, has now acknowledged Murtha was misquoted — that he was citing the stats from a poll, not speaking his own views. Here's the correction: "An article on Page 3B of Sunday’s Local section misinterpreted a comment from U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., at a town hall meeting in North Miami. In his speech, Murtha said U.S. credibility was suffering because of continued U.S. military presence in Iraq and the perception that the United States is an occupying force. Murtha was citing a recent poll, by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, that indicates a greater percentage of people in 10 of 14 foreign countries consider the U.S. presence in Iraq a greater danger to world peace than any threats posed by Iran or North Korea."

As bloggers, we have to rely on newpaper accounts for our opinions since we have day jobs. And the media has been known to misquote people.

Again, I unconditionally apologize for this error.

The Dodo Report (06/25/06)

Well, my new blog Dodo World has gotten off to a roaring start.

Well, perhaps "roaring" is a bit of an overstatement, but it sure sounds better than "meowing".

Still, I'm happy about how the blog is looking.

I would even go so far as to say that Dodo World is a real piece of art.

Still, the blog is a work in progress.

If you take a look at my newest creation, you will notice that I have been very busy at my computer.

My blog has a feature missing from most other blogs: a theme song.

In case you missed them, here are some of my latest posts:

America's Mother Road: Growing Up On Route 66
Dinner Music (featuring Weird Al Yankovich)
Penis Pump Judge Goes On Trial (a crime story weirder than Al)
Al Gore's Attempt to Suppress Science (also posted on this blog)
Raging about Road Rage

Here are coming attractions:
Monday - Church Folly (featuring a cartoon by Doug Marlette)
Tuesday - The Dodo Makes The News
Wednesday - The absence of war is . . .(rebutting a Liberal)

Just Sad

This is just depressing:

A 76-year-old woman who drove to a cemetery to visit her husband's grave has been killed by her own car.

The woman inadvertently left the car running and in gear when she stopped at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Queens Sunday afternoon, police said.

She was about 50 feet from her husband's grave when the car mowed her down. She died at the scene.

I was wrong in my assertion Clinton was convicted

I was incorrect when I said Clinton was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice.

He was impeached in the House for these crimes, but acquitted by the Senate. He also brokered a deal to end the investigation.

In 1999, Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice by the U.S. House of Representatives. He was acquitted by the Senate. The perjury charge arose from Clinton's testimony about his relationship to Monica Lewinsky during a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by former Arkansas-state employee Paula Jones. The obstruction charge was based on his actions during the subsequent investigation of that testimony. On February 12, the Senate concluded a 21-day trial with the vote on both counts falling short of the Constitutional requirement of a two-thirds majority to convict and remove an office holder. The final vote was generally along party lines, with all of the votes to convict being cast by Republicans. On the perjury charge 55 senators voted to acquit, including 10 Republicans, and 45 voted to convict; on the obstruction charge the Senate voted 50-50. [18] Clinton, like the only other president to be impeached, Andrew Johnson, served the remainder of his term.

Monica LewinskyThe day before leaving office, Clinton agreed to a five-year suspension of his Arkansas law license as part of an agreement with the independent counsel to end the investigation. Based on this suspension, Clinton was also automatically suspended from the United States Supreme Court bar, from which he chose to resign. [17][18] Clinton's resignation was mostly symbolic, as he had never practiced before the Supreme Court and was not expected to in the future. Clinton also was assessed a $90,000 fine by federal judge Susan Webber Wright for contempt of court. The Paula Jones lawsuit was settled out of court for $850,000.

I thought he was convicted of the three charges in the House, but the Senate voted not to remove him from office.

So now, I suppose, that means Clinton is innocent.

With police departments like these, who needs criminals?

Tulsa news station KTUL has on its website a story with the headline "Two Tulsa Police Officers Sued Over Alleged Affair, Unlawful Imprisonment".

Here is an excerpt from the story:

All My Children, One Life To Live, the Tulsa Police Department. One of them isn't supposed to be a soap opera. But, with the latest lawsuit revolving around sex, drugs and incarceration, it sure sounds like one.

The Tulsa Police Department has suffered through some high-profile incidents in the past two weeks. On February 20th, Police Chief Dave Been was placed on administrative leave for allegedly withholding a report critical of the department's SWAT team. Then, last week, an officer and a court clerk were suspended after the FBI accused them of tipping off criminals.

Today, another blow, as a civil lawsuit claims two police officers had an affair with a man's wife and made his life a hell with an unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Washington, DC news station WJLA has on its website a story with the title "Texas Town's Police Dept. Shut Down".

Here is the story's first sentence: "TROUP, Texas (AP) - The police chief and a sergeant in this eastern Texas town were arrested on drug and evidence tampering charges and the department shut down."

Bush Heard of Lifelike Pundit's Anniversary!

President Bush just called me during the first commercial of 24. He said, "Don't you just love this Jack Bauer fella? I love it when he makes the terrorists talk. He wants to protect this nation from the evildoers. Also, isn't President Logan a tool? He reminds me of my former 2000 and 2004 opponents. Hehehe. Thank the Lord they lost and that the American people know a loser when they see one. Snicker. Butt Heads Get Their Due

If you have been paying attention to the national news, then you are probably aware of the wildfires that have been plaguing Texas and Oklahoma.

Some of those fires have been started by cigarettes tossed out of moving vehicle.

Well, in Oklahoma the police are taking action against the buttheads who are tossing out the cigarettes.

Here is the beginning of a story posted on the website of KTUL News in Tulsa:

Some of the recent wildfires have been caused by people who have thrown their cigarettes out of car windows. That is now against the law and officers are writing tickets and watching for violators in what is being called the 'flick it and ticket' campaign. And, there is an additional warning -- officers can see those burning butts being thrown out of car windows a little better at night.

A reporter from the news station accompanied a police officer as he ticketed a driver for throwing out a cigarette. The reporter describes what happened:
Let me see your drivers license, and insurance."
"What am I being stopped for?"
"The cigarette you threw out the window."

The driver of that car declined an interview.

Happy New Year!

Large amounts of water and bread with honey is my prescription for your hangover. Go easy on the Pepto because it makes your dookie turn black; instead use Alka Selzer's hangover formula.

Force yourself to get up and move around for several hours so that you can sleep well tonight. If you are dehydrated, do not use Benedryl to sleep as you will totally dry your system out.

And yes, a shot or two in the morning will help you feel better but it must be the same thing you were drinking last night--if you only did beer, have a beer with breakfast, not Schnapps or Wild Turkey!

Now, after wiping the crust out of your eyes, the drool off your pillow, the vomit of your toilet, and kick that wo/man out of your pad, LLP wants to wish you a Happy New Year!

2006 Predictions: First Three Months

I am going to be lame and do the predictions game. I know that news turns on a dime, so I will only make predictions regarding the top 5 news stories for the first four months (1/3 of the year) in 2006.

1. President Bush's SOTU address will be described by the MSM as the speech that will determine if he has become a lame duck president. There will be over-analysis and much punditry. Bush will deliver a speech less grand than last year, but it will be just as powerful. Look for less concessions to the liberals. He will discuss these things the most: winning in Iraq, renewing the Patriot Act (tied to domestic eavesdropping), improving the economy by making tax cuts permanent, making our energy secure through ANWR, child sex predators (no steroids this time), New Orleans, and finally...the border (and he will not mention his guest worker program).

2. The hearings on Judge Sam Alito, Jr. to the SCOTUS. Democrats will try to filibuster his nomination, but when the democrats realize that the republicans have enough votes to invoke the "constitutional/nuclear option," they will back down--but only after they have called Judge Alito a racists, sexist, anti-abortion, right-wing extremist bent on "turning back the clock" on civil rights. Ultimately, he will be confirmed with only 5-10 democratic senators voting in his favor and 2-3 republican senators voting against.

3. The investigation into the NSA leaks regarding eavesdropping on people within the US in contact with suspected terrorists overseas. Arlen Spector will hold hearings that will resemble the 9/11 commission hearings (5-network coverage) that will ultimately backfire against liberal republicans (no effect to democrats); liberal republicans will overreach wanting to pose and preen for the camera but ultimately look like fools. One conservative senator will have enough sense to subpoena Joseph Wilson, Valerie Plame, Judith Miller and Michael Cooper to ask if the NSA leaker should be pursued as vigourously as the person that leaked the identity of Ms. Plame.

4. The Republican Study Committee will push the issue of immigration so far that even the Bush administration will sign an enforcement only bill (but with a promise to revisit the guest worker program in 6 months). President Bush will utilize this issue with the most embattled senators (Kyle and Santorum) and it will help only one of these senators. Tom Tancredo and JD Hayworth, as well as other congressional members on southern border states, will become more vocal in 2006. Immigration will become a national plank for each party with the democrats accusing republicans of racism (trumpeted by the international community after Vincente Fox files a petition at the UN where the US will be compared to Zionist occupiers). Ultimately, republicans will punk out in the Senate and there will be no bill for Bush to sign.

5. The democrats will still play the same yarn about no plan and demand timetables. This will not fly with the American people. The democrats will see many of their Iraq war vets they are recruiting to guilt-trip the public begin to stumble or find greater opposition than they thought by the incumbents. The mood in April of 2006 will be that the Dems have a chance to win the senate and the house, but that will be the same mood of early 2004 with Abu Ghraib and will be forgotten later in the year.

That's my take, and I might be totally wrong, but I win many hands of poker so I might pull this off :-)

I hope everyone has the safest, healthiest and most prosperous new year in 2006 than they've ever had. God bless you, God bless our soldiers, God bless our president and God bless America.

Major Security Flaw in Microsoft Windows

Please take the time to read this article about safeguarding your computer from a very serious flaw reported by Microsoft/Secunia.

Microsoft Corp. has issued a security advisory for what Secunia is deeming an "extremely critical flaw" in Windows Metafile Format (.wmf) that is now being exploited on fully patched systems by malicious attackers.

Websense Security Labs is tracking thousands of sites distributing the exploit code from a site called iFrameCASH BUSINESS.

That site and numerous others are distributing spyware and other unwanted software, replacing users' desktop backgrounds with a message that warns of spyware infection and which prompts the user to enter credit card information to pay for a "spyware cleaning" application to remove the detected spyware.

Vulnerable operating systems include a slew of Windows Server 2003 editions: Datacenter Edition, Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition and Web Edition.

Also at risk are Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional, making both home users and businesses open to attack.

The article includes instructions for a partial work around, but it will disable the autostart of your Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

LLP Readership Survey

The week President Bush announced Miers to SCOTUS, our daily unique visitor readership fell from around 800 to the mid-500s. Last week, our readership went back up to the mid-700s. What do you think explains this bump?

1. Renewed interest by conservatives to read blogs in general after "Katrina/Miers depression?"

2. Renewed interest by liberals to read conservative blogs to watch the conservative "crack-up?"

3. Renewed interest by LLP bloggers to post more frequently on intersting issues due to "Katrina/Miers depression"/conservative "crack-up?"

4. Global Warming

5. All of the above?

6. None of the above? (provide your belief in the comments)

For the Record

I should just say that I've worked personally with I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby when he was a partner at Dechert, Price & Rhoads (now known as "Dechert, LLP"). He seemed to be a very nice man. He used to tell a lot of fun stories about his litigation with Air Force 2 (the VP plane) and ensuring it was safe. He also did a lot of legal work with China. [1998-2000]

I have also worked at Covington & Burling, which is Arlen Spechter's law firm in Washington, DC. I never met Spechter in person, but I do know that he has a conference room named after him on the 10th or 12th floor and was spoken of in the absolute highest regard from everyone (liberal/conservative) that worked at Covington. [2000-2001]

I felt I should throw that out there because I've written on the latter and will be writing on the former; you know, that whole disclosure thing.

Lucille Meeks

My grandmother, Lucille Plaster Meeks, died Sunday night due to complications with several illnesses she had due to old age and smoking. She was 76.

I went three days without a single emotion other than empathy for my mother who is now an orphan.

I could not make it to Arizona because of cost, logistics and Dutch (my dog who I believe would die of a heart attack if I boarded him for several days; I am being completely serious; I got him at the pound and he suffers from severe abandonment issues).

I asked my father to call me on his cell phone during the service and put me on speakerphone so I could hear the eulogy. The first voice I heard was my pastor from Tucson, whom I have not heard in five years, and I lost it. It is very surprising when emotion will hit you--especially when you assumed that you were not going to do so.

To hear my pastor talk about God's grace; totally free salvation through the sacrifice of the Christ; and to know that my grandmother's broken and aged body is in the ground and she now has her resurrected body and can see my grandfather who died 24 years ago overwhelmed me.

With all the issues I've discussed on this site, I want you to know that the most important item for all of us is to have eternal life. Eternal life is nothing anyone can earn (through money, works or political affiliation) but something that is quite free and wonderful.

I will not preach, but if anyone who comes across this site and wants to know the Joy that can only be obtained by knowing that you will live forever with the Lord, please spend five minutes here.

God made Him who had no sin to be sin as a substitute for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

Whosoever believes in the Son has eternal life; but whosoever rejects the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36)

How wonderful that in my grandmother's death that I am joyous about her shedding her broken body only to receive a perfect one.

The word of God is alive and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit, and of the joints and the marrow, and is a critic of thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God might be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

I love my grandmother very much. It would be selfish for me to wish she was still here; I look forward to seeing her again.

LifeLike Pundits Week in Review

We had a great week! We had posts linked to on Lucianne.com, Polipundit.com and AnkleBitingPundits.com:

  • Kitty wants to know who DIDNT know the identity of Deep Throat???: Human nature being as it is, it was only a matter of minutes before people began claiming that they, of course, knew all along the true identity of Deep Throat. Just a quick perusal produced this list. (http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000893.php)
  • Pat thinks we should forget about Russell Crowe!Put Paul Krugmans lying tail in the ring with the defending champion Donald Luskin of National Review Online. Watch Krugman fall to Luskins TKO! (http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000890.php)
  • The Pam Meister looks at Tom Cruises ADD-like performance on Oprah. It appears that Scientology leads to insanity (and that has studio executives NERVOUS!).(http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000895.php)
  • Dodo David further examines American Idiots. Do I need to tell you the post is about Hollywood liberals? Of course it is! (http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000880.php)
  • ProfShade is back from the Southland of California and treats us to some Freakin' Friday Softcore Surfin'. LLP scored a blog interview with Mary Carey...the porn actress who ran for governor of California against the Governator. ProfShade was assigned the horrible task of interviewing her. He will post it as soon as we get it. (http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000898.php)
  • Me? Well, check out my pitch for the Laura Light movie contest. Laura Ingraham is doing this thing called Laura Light on her radio show with the most famous scriptwriting teacher at USC film school, Professor Richard Walter. You can call in and you have 60 seconds to pitch your movie idea.(http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/000901.php)

Link liberally. These folks deserve it! God bless.

Yo Momma Is so LifeLike, She....

Alpha Patriot points us to the bloggosphere's "Yo Momma's" contest held at The Minor Fan, The Major Lift. Which one would you say is most true about us at LifeLike Pundits...

Your blog is so stupid Rosie O’Donell made fun of it in free verse on her blog.

Your blog is like a sausage patty: no links.

Your blog is so boring Nick Denton wants to pay you $1000 a month not to write.

Your blog is like a pedestrian walkway: no traffic.

Your blog is so lame even Greg Lindsay refused to write for it.

Your blog is like Martha Stewart during her trial for securities fraud: no comments.

Your blog is so ugly Matt Drudge sent you an e-mail offering to help you redesign it “so it’s more aesthetically pleasing."

Your blog is like the intensive care unit after 8 P.M.: no visitors.

Your blog is so self-indulgent Stephanie Klein sent you a box of tampons and a note that says, “Get over it.”

Your blog is so badly written it got you your own column at the New York Press.

Your blog is like Jason Kidd’s domestic situation after court-ordered anger-management classes: no hits.

The Bomb and VE Day

I am currently writing an extensive piece on North Korea that I hope to post on Monday. But I needed to post something regarding this piece in the Guardian that totally dismisses the contributions of the West in the defeat of the Nazi's--instead stating that without the Soviets or the Chinese, victory would be impossible.

The Soviets and the Chinese probably lost 50-75 million people during WWII--more than any two nations. But the writer seems to suggest that the numbers lost by the Soviets or Chinese were because of their bravery (the soldiers/citizens' bravery should not be doubted), totally forgetting/not mentioning facts like the pact between Stalin and Hitler that lulled the Soviets into a false sense of security. Nor is it mentioned that Stalin's simultaneous bloodlust of world conquest with Hitler would result in the same amount of killings.

Why were these "innocent" regimes so ill-prepared? The question is never answered. But the thesis of the writer's is destroyed by one fact and one fact alone: Hilter and Hito would have been defeated regardless of Soviet or Chinese sacrifices. The deaths wrought by Nazi evil should never be trivialized, but to suggest that two tyrannies contributed more to the war effort than the innovation brought by western nations is ridiculous.

Enter: The Bomb. Without the Soviets, without the Chinese, the US would have still developed the bomb YEARS before anyone else (perhaps decades if the Soviets surrendered). So how would the supposed Nazi and Imperialist Japanese victories looked like without this still noble sacrifice? A lot like this:

To pretend that 20 million dead at the Soviet front had nothing to do with their evil, tyrannical, COMMUNIST leader who signed a pact with the identically EVIL, TYRANNICAL, NAZI Hitler is an attempt to soften the blow of communism to the rest of the 20th century that led to evil and murder that even the Nazi's could not imagine.

Dutch Is Devastated!

My unwavering companion, Dutch, is devastated that only one of the some 300-400 daily readers wished him a happy birthday. So let us try again:

My big guy turns 3 today!

His nicknames include: Snutch, Stinky Butt, and Snuggle Bear. His favorite treats are "Chewrifics." I got him at the Washington Animal Rescue League. I was browsing the dogs and walked past him. He screamed like someone had stabbed him. I went back to see him and he looked right at me with those big brown eyes. I had to have him! I've had him for 2 years now. He's only destroyed about $1000 dollars worth of carpetting, but he really is a good boy.

I love you, Dutch!

I Am Baaack!

For those of you interested in the saga of my laptop, I have great news! It is back from its three month journey through the horrible red tape at Best Buy/Geek Squad.

I am glad t is repaired...what I am not glad about is that they erased my entire hard drive and returned it to the factory image.

That's almost two years of data gone. But it almost makes it feel like I bought a brand new computer because they fixed my power connection and replaced the DVD player!

So no more blogging and commenting from work or my PDA. I have to admit, though, my HP iPaq was almost as good as a real computer in terms of emailing and blogging and web browsing--it's just I am not good with typing with my thumbs.

My New Pad

I am going to be blogging either relatively heavily or very lightly...depending on my motivation to pack.

I am moving into my new place (no more apartments; I got a townhose!). It has a huge backyard for Dutch. Wait, you don't know Dutch? Dutch is my trusted companion. I found him at the Washington Animal Rescue League. I went there stricken with grief after my lab Sydney died at 14.5 years of age. I walked up and down the aisles of cages with my mother.

I walked past one cage to quickly and I heard this blood curdling howl like a dog had been stabbed. I walked back three cages and there he was, this little thing making all that noise. I just had to have him!

He is my little, big man.

Anyway, I love my new townhome. I am registered at Barney's, Williams & Sonoma and Tiffany's.

Contest: $100!

I will pay a hundred bucks to anyone who can honestly prove that the liberal media does not make up news after this:

With worldwide attention focused on Terri Schiavo, the brain-injured Florida woman whose feeding tube was removed March 18, CBS News reportedly published news of her death on Monday of this week, even though she had not died.

The online obituary began: "Surrounded by stuffed animals and medical equipment in her small hospice room in Pinellas Park, Fla., Theresa Marie Schindler Schiavo died. ... "

"Known as Terri Schiavo, the severely brain damaged Florida woman spent her last months in the glare of the public eye as a few still images and several seconds of video of her repeatedly broadcast around the world. She appeared made up and dressed, although the 41-year-old had not enunciated a word nor made any choices since the 1990 heart attack that left her body and mind ravaged."

The story, written by CBSNews.com's Christine Lagorio, even prognosticated the precise location of Terri's husband.

  • Michael Schiavo, who was at the bedside of his wife Terri when she died, told Larry King that he lives now with another woman with whom he has two children.
  • "I can love more than one person," he told King. "Everybody can do that."
  • According to friends and relatives, Michael Schiavo was Terri's only love. His big-but-tight-knit family took in Michael's bride, and she befriended his siblings, including his brother, Scott.
  • "It's so sad they've turned this wonderful person into a sideshow," Scott Schiavo told the [Washington] Post. "It's such a shame. It really is. The one that's hurt the most here is Terri."
You can read the entire press release from CBS here (Adobe Acrobat required).

Since Terri Schiavo is still alive, why did CBS choose to say that Michael Schiavo was at her side? Why not the parents? I'll tell you why! The media is LIBERAL and chooses to represent Michael Schiavo as sympathetic--REGARDLESS OF FACT!

Rodger? Paul? Where are you now? What if FOXNews (!) did this?

This was on the CBSNews website! This is wholely more authentic than the "GOP" Talking Points Memo that, in all honesty, is a fake. Please, liberal readers, explain this away. The winner who can prove that Terri Schiavo in fact died before this post will receive 100 bucks, delivered by me, in cash.

Can someone help with a work assignment?

I need to locate an article on "positive indexing for social security" by "Posen" that "probably appeared in the WSJ in the last couple of days."

Best Researcher award will be bestowed on this wonderful individual (I need the text...not just a link to an article I can't read cause I have to pay).

Apology Due

I want to apologize to our long time reader, Rodger Jacobs, for deleting his comments when I removed a post this morning.

I removed the post because I felt it was too emotional but later decided I should keep it up because I should not be afraid to express myself emotionally on this site.

When the post was removed, the comments with it were deleted. Luckily, I went into my old mail and found the comments which are emailed to me for each comment in my posts.

They are reposted here.

Comment Free Zone

Um, are we in some kind of funk here? I haven't seen a comment on any of our posts in a whole day.

Should I say something totally controversial?

I think Barbara Boxer would make a fine president and commander-in-chief.
