"Finally! This is Long Overdue!": the New Democrat Meme
You can tell they only had a couple of hours to come up with this one: "It's about time." WOW. If this was so important and long overdue, why wasn't this included in the Six for 06 plan unveiled by the Democrats?
The comments from Democrats are really outrageous (especially from John Kerry), but this one stuck out as I read it because it actually didn't sound like a hack criticism, but something that should have been done:
'Had the president not withheld details of the CIA detention and interrogation program from the congressional intelligence committees and instead worked with Congress from day one, I believe we could have created a terrorist detention program after 9/11 that would have been effective in obtaining timely intelligence and withstood legal scrutiny.'

The TDP. That sounds like something we should have had in 2002. It should have been done in 2002, but then again, I can understand why it took a few years. Dealing with stateless regimes is difficult and breaks new legal ground. The "withstood legal scrutiny" would have never been accopmlished. Look at the Patriot Act.
