Mitt Romney is growing on me

The more I see and hear from this guy, the more I like.

He's smart, conservative, HANDSOME!, and has a very sexy voice and demeanor that will be comforting and assuring for 8 years.

I will admit that I have misgivings about his Mormonism. I still believe that it is a cult - not a denomination...but I am sure I'll get over it.

I have enough trouble telling Catholics apart from Protestants, so I'm missing why some Christains don't like Mormons, but frankly it's really none of my business, either. I suspect that I'd get peeved if a Christain started asking me if I thought one Jewish group or another was a cult, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

As far as he goes...is he a conservative? More importantly to me, is he pro-life? I'm not voting for someone who supports abortion, even Rudy, who I am absolutely wild over. We need someone who is dedicated to appointing judges who will overturn that monstrosity called Roe v. Wade so that the abortion question can go back to the individual state legsilatures where it belongs. Once that's done I'll consider supporting a pro-abortion candidate.

(And anyone who uses this an a platform to start debating the merits of the pro-life or pro-abortion position here has missed my point. This is mainly an issue of procedure and Federalism.)

I'm with you about Mormonism, expecially when you know Joseph Smith's background, but every Mormon I've worked with has been a really great guy. Can a corrupt organization have outstanding members? Apparently they can.

Mormons are, on the whole, very conservative. The whole polygamy thing was done away with well over 100 years ago, and it's only a lunatic fringe that continues to practice it in secret. I think that one of the reasons so many people think Mormons are weird is because they actually try to live up to their religious beliefs on a daily basis, something our modern secular society frowns upon these days...being an overtly religious Christian isn't hip.

The best way to distinguish a Religion from a Cult is this simple guideline: If it is an organized superstition that you believe in, then its a religion. If its an organized superstition that you don't believe in, then its a cult.

Keith, that was wicked, sarcastic, cynical...and true. Not to mention funny.

I don't believe that Mormonism has any historical evidence for claims made in the Book of Mormon (like the Garden of Eden being in Missouri; that there were two Noahs with one landing in the western hemisphere; and that Christ visited the natives here).

You don't have to believe the spiritual part of the Bible to know that there is actual history and archeological evidence that the history actually occured (in some form or another).

Two Noahs! How ridiculous. Everyone knows that there was only one man who saved his family and all the animals on earth. Clearly, anyone who believes in two such men is brainwashed.
