IaintBacchus Drives Down Memory Lane

In an earlier comments discussion, IB pointed out some articles regarding "push polling" and some dispicable political attacks in the 2000 primary race.

I wanted to present them to everyone; here are the links:

Push Poll

Parsing the Polls

I've never been interviewed or polled on political matters for anything so I cannot confirm or deny some of this stuff. But if it is true, it is horrible. If you know of any campaign doing these things, please report it.

Politics must be self-policing. Since politicians control government, the government is only going to make laws that help them and not us when it comes to the political process.

Karl Rove seems to believe that Republican primary voters are racist to the extent that they react negatively to interracial relationships.

I am a registered Independent and during the last presidential campaign, I was REALLY popular with the pollsters. I have to admit, we were dealing with some horrendous personal tragedy at the time and I needed to lighten up in a serious way - so when I would get calls from pollsters who were clearly asking questions designed to elicit leftward responses, I gave 'em what they wanted. Then I'd get off the phone and laugh like crazy. Since I'm not THAT original, I'm sure I wasn't the only one having a little fun with these bozos (who always seemed to call at the most inopportune times). That might explain why the polls were so off?
