Stop the Presses
I just had a smoke and saw the whole front page of USAToday splashed with a new treasonous leak about the government obtaining our phone records! Good Lord, it's the end of the world.
The same government that has all of our birth information when it issues us a Social Security number and the same government that knows where all of us live when we pay our taxes ALSO knows who we are calling and who is calling us--just like caller ID!
The real lead is, of course, burried in the story:
This program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the spy agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity, sources said in separate interviews
Exactly. This is too unreal. And notice how this is all "uncovered" the week before the confirmation hearings for General Hayden. As the Churdlady would say: How conveeeenient!
UPDATE!!! I just called into the Laura Ingraham show and asked why no one has yet asked about the USAToday hit piece right before General Hayden's confirmation hearing. She gave me a ding! (which is good) and said I was a very smart man. I love it! I am so flattered! I love LI!

How do you know this is a leak, by your criteria? Because the President can legally, according to you and even some Congressional Democrats I disagree with, declassify material simply by telling someone to "get it out", we have no way of knowing whether or not anonymous sources are acting illegally or not.

It's a Rovian Plot. Bush declassifies, Rove releases on background. Leftie head explode.
Traffic analysis. The telecoms do it daily but they're not looking for terrorists.
This is a completely separate program form the Terrorist Surveillance Progam. It has been going on for decades but on a smaller scale. It's called Pen Register Analysis. Do a little research.
