I Want $20,000

Well, that's what some black guy wants from the federal government. His home was destroyed; he (and his white wife) were packed on a bus like "slaves;" and only received $700 in assistance thus far (in the one week they have been displaced).

Asked by the reporter, "what is it precisely you want from the federal government?"

The guy's reply: "I want $20,000." He went on to use the F-word on national television.

Can I send a shout-out to this guy in Houston?

Fuck you.

Your blog is often interesting, but I'm a bit confused by this entry. Why is his skin color relevant? The ugly entitlement mentality is hardly the exclusive domain of southern blacks. I'm seeing disgusting reports from blacks and whites alike who lay down and waited to be saved instead of hoofing it an afternoon's walk inland.

The obvious fact that the federal government routinely hands out very large sums of money to those who are impacted by regional tragedy (regardless of race or income) may have one hell of a lot more to do with this man's attitude than his race...

and no, I am not suggesting that the fed should stop helping those in need -I'm only stating the facts...

The government has created the sense of entitlement for victims of disasters - why blame the victim?

Kudos, Aaron.

I am half black. I bring up his race only because the democrats made this a race issue.

It's also ironic because the race husslers, normally, would vilify a black man for being with a white woman (a traitor like my father).

I think race is totally relevant--in that I am sick and tired of my people acting like the perpetual victim. Slavery? Yes. Discrimination? Yes. Weather? Get real.

I would give this guy a foot in the ass regardless of his skin pigmentation !!

I am so sick of the "woes me" attitude from the black community. They think we owe them something. Yes, there are still a few whites out there that are black haters but not the whole country and especially George Bush. There children have the same opportunities our children do but there seems to be a lack of support at home if their children are even going to school. I am not racist. My best friend is a 43 year old black man. Blacks were not the only people to lose homes out there. Quit complaining and blaming and do something for yourself
