Respect and Love

Is it wrong to believe you love politicians for who they are and what they do? Or is that lame hero worship?

I've often told friend that I love President Bush as a father figure--not as much as I love my own father--but I love him as a fellow American; I love him as a fellow Christian; and I love him because he is the president. Is that okay?

I feel it is. I think that loving people who stand for you and your beliefs are the totally appropriate response politically. I mean, why pray for a man you do not love? Why pray for his family if you do not love them? Why bestow your future on the shoulders on a man you could never love? Is it okay to love Bush?

I think it is...and when I see pictures like this, I feel more in love than ever...

you pray for the people you don't like or the ones who hurt you and others because God calls for us to do do.

i, too, love president bush and am thankful that he is also my brother in the Lord. one of my favorite things about him is how he is so in love with the american people and is so optimistic about us, about who we are and our boundless potential. another is how he connects with people, even while shaking hands in the crowds. my favorite campaign ad was the one with the young girl who had lost her family on 9/11 and how it ended with his embracing her. he's increasingly known for that kind of connecting with people. i also loved it when he was in chile and (literally) jumped into the fray to help his secret service man! and i love the twinkle in his eye, particularly when it's a little mischievous. and i've always been a sucker for cowboys.
