WHO ARE WE? WHY ARE WE HERE?

When the Dems say that they have to decide what their core values are, they aren't being honest. They know that if they're honest with the voters, most would not vote for them. Which is why they've painted themselves into a "Who are we and why are we here?" corner :)

Obama lends star power to Nelson
Only seven people stood to address the senators during the hourlong meeting. But everyone listened closely as the two men responded to issues that ranged from worries over the out-of-power Democratic Party to the rising cost of health care and Florida's inadequately funded pre-kindergarten program.
The most provocative question was the first."I see a Democratic Party afraid to say they're Democrats, who voted for the war in Iraq and voted for tax cuts for the wealthy," said
Glenn Andersonof Orlando. "Why should I remain a Democrat?"
It was a tough question. But
[U.S. Sen. Bill] Nelson and [U.S. Sen. Barack] Obama tried to answer it.
"The Democrats at times have lost their way," conceded Obama. "We are trying to decide what our core values are."

I speak as an old Democrat.

Bush has been in office roughly 4.5 years. The defining event of 9/11 was almost 4 years ago.

Democrats still trying to define or locate or clarify their core values might ask if such exist. In all that time those intellectuals can't search their house?

Of course what they really mean is what can they say to win more elections. i.e. tactics not values.

Since 2000 Democrats have had a single tactic - denounce everything Bush does as evil. And the man himself as an utter dunce controlled by Rove, the Saudis, or Cheney. But sometimes GWB is the evil master ruining the entire earth.

The Democrats can start by telling the people which Bush is - dark master of the universe or moron. It seems unlikely he is both.

Five years of such tactics haven't worked. Maybe they should try thinking.
