CLUB GITMO: THE UGLY TRUTH
Thanks to the half-vast left-wing's never-ending capacity for being absurd, Rush has been supplied with a never-ending source of material. His latest focus is the left's obsession with demonizing our military at Gitmo while portraying the terrorists detained there as sympathetic victims. He has put together a Club Gitmo brochure and a Club Gitmo line of merchandise. He even has a Club Gitmo photo gallery: E-mail your photo to us at ClubGitmo@RushLimbaugh.com. We'll pick the best and post them right here on the website. Rush's sense of humor is always a breath of fresh air.
But there is an ugly side to Gitmo which hasn't been given nearly as much attention as it requires.

In one instance the AP reports: "Some prisoners at the U.S. base in eastern Cuba have gone on the attack, as in April 2003 when a detainee got out of his cell during a search for contraband food and knocked out a guard's tooth with a punch to the mouth and bit him before he was subdued by MPs."Another report details how detainees protested the high temperatures at Guantanamo Bay: "[They] doused guards with whatever liquid was handy - from spit to urine. Sometimes they struck their jailers, one swinging a steel chair at a military police officer."

[W]hen service men try to defend themselves against detainees they are inevitably dropped in rank, suffer loss of pay and extra duty, or receive similar harsh punishment. One MP explained why guards take such abuse from suspected terrorists: "The training we have received here at Guantanamo Bay has always stressed...that no matter what happens on the block do not retaliate...it will just get you into trouble."

Of course! The rights of the violent detainees, who really should have no rights other than food and shelter, are more important than those of our citizen soldiers assigned to guard them. The good opinion of the world and the Democrats depends on it!
