Arnold Brings It To the People

In an historic move, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has called for a special election this November to accomplish what he can't with the legislature: put spending caps on the state, stop politicians from redrawing legislative boundaries, and to increase the time it takes for public school teachers to achieve tenure (among other things).

Go, Arnold! Yes, the state reps and senators are elected by the people to do the work of the people. But when the system doesn't work, what better way to fix it than to ask the people directly how the government should be run?

I'm sure there are those of you out there who disagree with this special election. But, in my opinion, it's time politicians realized that they've been entrusted with certain powers as long as they do the work of all of the people, not just special interest groups. If the measures Arnold is proposing fail, then the people have spoken. The same is true if they pass.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be one of the most important politicians of our time. I'm only sorry he wasn't born in America, because I'd love to see him run for president. (As much as I like him, I don't agree with a constitutional amendment allowing naturalized citizens to run for president.)

I have a feeling it's going to be a long, hot summer of campaigning in California!

Reagan was successful because he bypassed the MSM and took his causes to the people. Personally, I'm sick of all politicians, Rs & Ds alike, who become part of the herd. YOU GO, AH-NULD!
