FAA Lunacy
Officials at the Federal Aviation Administration must have way to much free time.
Brit Hume of FOXNews reports the following:
The Federal Aviation Administration is taking steps to make sure that space remains the final but unreachable frontier for advertisers, as the FAA moved to ban billboards in space. The agency claims large objects placed in a low orbit around the earth would appear from here to be as large as the moon and could easily be seen without a telescope. Regulators also complain that big, bright ads could hinder astronomers. A law banning "obtrusive" ads in space is already on the books, but the FAA is asking for a change in its regulations to give the body the power to enforce it.
What the FAA wants to do is ridiculous for 2 reasons.
First, outer space is outside the jurisdiction of every nation on Earth, including the USA.
Second, placing a billboard in outer space would be as profitable as opening a Cadillac dealership in an Amish farming community.

How far up does a country own its own airspace, anyway?
I suppose a company like Coke or Pepsi could afford to get it up, but the backlash would be pretty great so it'd be a huge risk.
Bill Gates might be enough of a pig to do it. God knows the demiGods and Microsoft would like to require each American citizen get a chip put in their heads automatically charging their bank accounts everytime their boot Windows.
