Why the world’s elites gnash their teeth.
![]() | ![]() |
Probably nothing epitomizes the post-9/11 anti-Americanism better that Michael Moore's crockumentary Fahrenheit 9/11. Whole websites have sprung up just to spit acid on America, Bush, the military and red-staters in general. Michael Moore has happily assumed the profitable mantle of the Left's leader. Thanks to an incestuous relationship the Left enjoys with MSM, Moore's movie was given as much publicity as possible, much of it free. As evidenced by the above poster, it was even shown on college campuses. As a result, whole websites have sprung up to refute Moore, such as MichaelMooreHatesAmerica, which is a website and movie both. Then there's MooreWatch, which exists to correct Moore's lies, such as Lt. Gen. James N. Mattis' supposed comment "It's fun to shoot people."
I've given up trying to understand the Left's lunacy. However, Victor David Hanson summarizes it well.
The Global Throng
Why the worlds elites gnash their teeth.
By Victor David Hanson
Do we even remember "all that" now? The lunacy that appeared after 9/11 that asked us to look for the "root causes" to explain why America may have "provoked" spoiled mama's boys like bin Laden and Mohammed Atta to murder Americans at work? Do we recall the successive litany of "you cannot win in Afghanistan/you cannot reconstruct such a mess/you cannot jumpstart democracy there"? And do we have memory still of "Sharon the war criminal," and "the apartheid wall," and, of course, "Jeningrad," the supposed Israeli-engineered Stalingrad or was it really Leningrad? Or try to remember Arafat in his Ramallah bunker talking to international groupies who flew in to hear the old killer's jumbled mishmash about George Bush, the meanie who had ostracized him. ... What explains this automatic censure of the United States, Israel, and to a lesser extent the Anglo-democracies of the United Kingdom and Australia? Westernization, coupled with globalization, has created an affluent and leisured elite that now gravitates to universities, the media, bureaucracies, and world organizations, all places where wealth is not created, but analyzed, critiqued, and lavishly spent.
