The Gay South!

I was just browsing through my latest issue of OUT on the pot and came across this funny statistic (all the magazines have those "by the numbers" pages)...but it's not really a statistic, rather a list of the gayest names of cities and towns in the south. I laughed out loud and I think you will to, so I decided to share:

image

From North To South

  1. Lickinghole District, VA

  2. Knobview Township, MO

  3. Fort Gay, WV

  4. Manly, NC

  5. Big Lick Township, NC

  6. Gay, NC

  7. Big Bottom Township, AR

  8. Bear Town, MS

  9. Daddy Hole Lake, FL

  10. Lake Cock, LA

  11. Homosassa Springs, FL
Homosassa - props to anyone who finds out the origins of that towns name!

Angelinia Jolie:  Sane, Honest Celebrity?

Obviously, this woman takes her job at the UN seriously. You know there's always been something about her you liked - even if you liked Jennifer Aniston.

Well, Jolie is going to Iraq, frequently, and reports that the Surge is "creating opportunities" to address the refugee crisis - which demonstrates she understands the concept of the surge.

The request is familiar to American ears: "Bring them home."

But in Iraq, where I've just met with American and Iraqi leaders, the phrase carries a different meaning. It does not refer to the departure of U.S. troops, but to the return of the millions of innocent Iraqis who have been driven out of their homes and, in many cases, out of the country.
She ends her op-ed with this:
"When I asked the troops if they wanted to go home as soon as possible, they said that they miss home but feel invested in Iraq," she wrote. "They have lost many friends and want to be a part of the humanitarian progress they now feel is possible."
If she had said this at the Oscars you would have been able to hear a pin drop.

Zell to Democrats:  Shut the F*ck Up - You’re Ruining the Economy

I love it. More people speaking the truth from all corners...the global cooling being noticed and now a mega investor admitting there is an impact on the economy when Democrats campaign:
The US economy will avoid recession as the housing market begins to recover this spring, according to billionaire investor Sam Zell.

Speaking on "Squawk Box" this morning, Zell attributed much of the current economic troubles to fear-mongering and politicking by Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

"Obviously what we have going on is an attempt to create a self-fulfilling prophecy," said Zell, chairman of Equity Investments Group and owner of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other companies. "We have two Democratic candidates who are vying with each other to describe the economic situation worse. [emphasis mine]
Warren Buffet will, of course, keep his lips sealed because he's a greedy bastard at heart and wants this downturn to continue so he can buy up everything cheaply - then go on TV and spin a yarn of guilt about his wealth and the taxes his employees must pay.

Mullah to Iranian President:  Quiet!  You’re gonna blow it for all of us!

When your nation's #1 national priority is a Nuclear Jewish Holocaust - it's not smart to tell everyone! You have to fake like you want diplomacy and root for Barack Obama!

"Does foreign policy mean expressing coarse slogans and grandstanding?" Rowhani asked in a speech to a foreign policy conference in Tehran.

"This is not a foreign policy. We need to find an accommodating way to decrease the threats and assure the interests of the country."

His comments came a week after the latest verbal attack on Israel by Ahmadinejad, who described the Jewish state as a "dirty microbe" and "savage animal" in a speech to a public rally.

The president has already made calls for Israel to be wiped off the map and predicted it is doomed to disappear, provoking international uproar and sharpening tensions in Iran's nuclear standoff with the West.

Rowhani warned starkly: "If the international community thinks that a country wants to play troublemaker and eliminate others, it will not let the country do this and will confront it.

"We must act in such a way that the world understands that we are ready for more flexibility and more dialogue."
Underneath his head-dress, this mullah has a Barack Obama pin that says YES WE CAN! knowing that we just might have a sucka for a president in several months.

I Just Love These Kind of Sappy Stories

Sue me, but this stuff just makes me wanna cry with tears of joy.
Youssif happily pulls off his plastic face mask and pats his cheeks, which were once covered by horrific burns.

"No hurt," the 5-year-old Iraqi boy says in English. "No hurt."

He then shows off his right hand. It too had been marred by hardened scar tissue after he was attacked by masked men outside his central Baghdad home January 15, 2007. Now, his hand is smooth.

Youssif flashes a proud grin.

A few moments later, he darts off and comes back toting his kindergarten portfolio. In less than a month of schooling, he's now writing the alphabet in upper- and lowercase.

Most Of The Decision Comes Before Oral Arguments

Back when the left controlled the media, the New York Grimes managed to smear Justice Clarence Thomas in a variety fo ways, oen of them for his reluctance to speak up much at oral arguments.

Yahoo News has an AP piece which does a better job explaining the Justice's reticence, but I thought I'd add something in.

To quote my legal writing professor: You don't win a case on oral arguments, but you can lose it.

I don't mean lower court. In lower court you'd better be prepared to run your mouth when the judge lets you. But on appeal (which includes an appeal to a state supreme court or the USSC) by the time you get up there to talk, there's been a mountain of paperwork on the case that preceded you. You're also severely circumsized in what you can say and how long you have. The rules vary from court to court, but the average time is like 3-4 minutes for a presentation.

I've watched appeals in Chicago's Dirksen Federal building, 7th Federal Circuit. The trio of judges barely ask one or two questions while they stare down at the attorneys.

My point is, the oral arguments are a cherry on top of an ice cream sunday. By the time you're there, the case is 99.99% done. If 1 justice wants to listen to the other 8, I don't see what gets lost.

Former Alabama Democrat Governor in Jail but Karl Rove Is the Bad Guy

I mean the way they have to weave these stories to get the angles they need! So Karl Rove asked for some evidence of infidelity or illegality on the Democrat Alabama Governor and this scandal is somehow about Rove??? THE GOVERNOR IS IN JAIL!!!! Rove wanting information to take a criminal out politically is exactly what he is paid to do. Actually, this shows that Rove is not out attacking people and destroying families like the Democrats do to Republican judicial nominees - but that he's looking to oust a felonious governor.

A Republican operative in Alabama says Karl Rove asked her to try to prove the state’s Democratic governor was unfaithful to his wife in an effort to thwart the highly successful politician’s re-election.

Rove’s attempt to smear Don Siegelman was part of a Republican campaign to ruin him that finally succeeded in imprisoning him, says the operative, Jill Simpson.
But to 60 Minutes - the story is about Rove. Did you know that Alabama's Democrat Governor just went to jail? I didn't. Maybe that should be the story. Rove's role should be a paragraph or two, or a passing mention in the second segment. Shouldn't we be glad he is in jail and thankful that the guy was exposed?

THEY ARE INSANE AND OBSESSED! AND ITS ON DISPLAY WITH THE CULTIST FERVOR OVER OBAMA! MAKE ME FEEL GOOD, OOOH YAAAAAH.

Serbian Nationalists Commit 1st Degree Murder During Demonstration

Numerous sources have reported that a charred body was found in the American Embassy in Belgrade today. The embassy was set afire by Serbian nationalists angry with Kosovo's declaration of independence and the United States' later recognition of same. From CNN:
Kosovo declared independence last Sunday and the United States was among the first countries to offer official recognition of its split from Serbia.

One charred body -- believed to be a protester -- was found in the U.S. Embassy compound, embassy spokesman in Belgrade William Wanlund said. The only Americans at the embassy during the violence were Marines, who are all said to be accounted for.
Lovely. These Serbians aren't the kind of people I want living in my neighborhood, y'know what I'm sayin' here?

UPDATE: Reporting from FOXNews indicates rioters are also responsible for putting 35 police officers in the hospital and are looting buildings in the area. Serb nationalists appear to be nothing more than muderers, common thugs and thieves.

I Think McCain Has Now Figured Out That The Media Isn’t His Friend

Doing the bidding of their DNC komrades, the NYT comes out with a bullsh*t piece about McCain.

Suspicious timing? Nooooooooooooooooooooo.

Here's several facts they left out.

What utter crap. The New York Grimes really thinks they can pull this off in the internet age?

Election Scoreboard So Far

The Huckabee effect is dead (although 37% is a strong showing for an evangelical minister in Wisconsin).

Therefore, I say, "Huckabee, get out."

Obama is on a roll, but is only halfway to the delegate lead mark, so the Clinton machine has some work to do (and they will do it!).

I participate in a Frank Luntz focus group this evening. I will report back on the experience. We signed a confidentiality agreement so I have to stay mum on everything. It was fun and educational.

World War II hero finally gets his story told

Nice story in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune about a WWII soldier who died during the Battle of the Bulge attempting to help others, his gravesite the man who uncovered his story.
How long has it been since anyone thought of Albert Cobb Martin?

Full of promise, the Army first lieutenant and Yale graduate from Minneapolis was 24 when he died in World War II. His mother and father died a few years later. Bert, as he was called, was an only child. Most of his classmates and all of his close relatives are gone.

But half a world away, the Vandeberg family of Belgium won't forget his sacrifice. They never knew Martin, but for years, Marthe Vandeberg faithfully put flowers and flags on the Minnesotan's grave twice a year. When she died in 2006, her son Vincent took over.

For Vincent, the cryptic words on the white marble cross marking Martin's grave in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery posed a mystery. The notation -- ALBERT C. MARTIN, 1 LT 590 FA BN 106 DIV, MINNESOTA DEC. 21 1944 -- wasn't enough. He needed to know more.
